Michael Faraday's Discoveries and Faraday Flashlight |

|
Michael Faraday (1791 to 1867) is an English chemist and physicist. He is well-known for his pioneering efforts in the study and experiments of electricity and magnetism.
At the age of 21, he was appointed as an assistant to Humphrey Davy in the laboratory of the Royal Institution in London.
Michael Faraday's Contributions in the field of Chemistry
During his initial chemistry-related scientific work, he discovered two new
chlorides of carbon and succeeded in liquefying chlorine and other gases.
Faraday's views on the Conservation of Energy
Michael Faraday held strong views concerning the conservation of energy which led him to
believe that since an electric current could cause a magnetic field,
conversely, a magnetic field should be able to produce an electric current.
No battery flashlight - Application of Faraday's Principle of Electromagnetic Induction
One handy, environmentally-friendly and useful everyday tool that applies Faraday's principle of electromagnetic induction is the no battery flashlight. Since Faraday's flashlight generates its own power and requires no batteries, it is also variously referred to as a no battery flashlight, a batteryless flashlight, a battery-free flashlight or even a shake flashlight.
It is a clean form of energy as all you have to do is to shake the flashlight like you would a pepper shaker.

Application of Faraday's Effect in Astronomy
Michael Faraday subsequently discovered, in 1845, that a strong magnetic field has the ability to rotate the plane of polarized light. It is now known as the Faraday Effect. This phenomenon has been used by astronomers and physicists to study galactic magnetic fields. More on astronomy and telescopes.
